Cossall Neighbourhood Plan

Print Page FriendlyPrint this page

A Neighbourhood Plan is a document that:

  • Sets out a vision for the future of the neighbourhood
  • Shapes developments in the Parish
  • Can influence the local authorities view on new housing, public amenities, roads and transport
  • Is written by the local community in conjunction with a steering group that includes residents from around Cossall and members of Cossall Parish Council.

{{17 Oct 2021} Work on the Cossall Neighbourhood Plan commenced in the spring of 2018.

Please find here on the Cossall Parish Council website the work in progress comprising of the evidence base put together so far, as we are developing and working on the plan and also for information and interest, please also find here the various literatures already produced and distributed to residents and/or businesses as a part of our community engagement, as we gather the views and feelings of residents and businesses.

We will be keeping everyone informed of the progress of the Cossall Neighbourhood Plan as it continues to progress and we welcome residents’ thoughts and comments at any time.

{23 Feb 2020} Proposals for residential development on land west of Awsworth
Cossall Parish Council responded officially to the proposals for residential development on land west of Awsworth writing that we are very disappointed that modelling of traffic flow on Newton’s Lane does not appear to have been carried out. Cossall Parish Council is extremely concerned about the volume of traffic that is likely to use Newton’s Lane and adjoining roads and the safely aspects of this potential increase in the volume of traffic here. We certainly feel that other options must be considered especially because Newton’s Lane and Park Hill already serve large residential developments. In November 2019 there was a meeting between members of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group. This followed the excellent response to the questionnaire which went out to all residents and businesses in the parish.

The purpose of the questionnaires was to collect information regarding what is important to residents of Cossall regarding their opinion about the future of the Parish. While it is important to be aware that we are not able to stop new housing being built, we can have a considerable influence on how our lovely Parish will evolve.

Following the analysis of the questionnaires, this information will be used in setting out the objectives for the neighbourhood plan and some consultation meetings will be held later in the year. The consultation meetings will be for residents of the Parish to attend to discuss the proposals put forward by the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group.

Initiatives

The main special initiatives the council are working on at the moment include the Cossall Neighbourhood Plan and combating illegal off-road bikers and other traffic-related issues.

In addition, we wish to digitise the old council minutes which date back to the start of the parish council in 1894 and we are looking for ideas to help us to try to prevent loneliness in the parish.
