Year End Accounts

Everyone had received a copy of the Year End Accounts and Councillor Mrs Gilbert thanked Councillor Wheatley for going through the accounts and preparing a new spreadsheet.

Councillor Wheatley told the meeting that he had looked through the accounts and agrees with the figures and is quite happy for the accounts to be approved and signed off at the next meeting.

He explained that the spreadsheet the Clerk uses is not working properly and is extremely out-of-date and therefore he is updating this and, once social distancing etc is over, will have a meeting with the Clerk to go through it and load it onto the laptop. An updated spreadsheet will be a very useful tool in the future.

Councillor Wheatley suggested that, in future, it would be a good idea to include the monthly opening balance in the Minutes and bring bank statements to the meetings to be signed off.  The Clerk will also include the monthly Direct Debit figure for Eon in the Accounts for Payment section on the Minutes.

Councillor Wheatley proposed that the Accounts be approved and relevant paperwork signed at the next virtual meeting of the Parish Council on 21 July 2020.  Councillor Mrs Gilbert seconded this proposal, there was a show of hands and all were in favour.

Councillor Mrs Gilbert told the meeting that Darren Mudd has been doing a lot of work, since the last meeting, on making the website comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG),  regarding accessibility for people with all types of disability. There is a problem with most audio speaker software reading PDFs so the minutes need to be changed to individual web pages and there is still a lot of work to be done. Following the proposal at the last meeting to pay upto £200 for the work Darren is doing, Councillor Mrs Gilbert felt that this amount is not enough and proposed that Darren receive £400.  Councillor Wheatley seconded this proposal, there was a show of hands and all were in favour.

Councillor Mrs Gilbert told the meeting that following on from the work Darren is doing it will be down to Russ Heard to make the web pages, which will be more time consuming than the work previously expected of him. Russ is quite happy to do this on top of his normal administration of the website.  Councillor Mrs Gilbert proposed that his monthly payment be increased from £30 to £45.  Councillor Mrs Wheatley seconded this proposal, there was a show of hands and all were in favour.

Councillor Wheatley raised a vote of thanks to Councillor Mrs Gilbert, Darren and Russ for the amount of work they have put in with regard to setting up the website to be reasonably WCAG compliant.

The meeting closed at 20.05.
